18 Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Cephas and stayed with him fifteen days. 19 I saw none of the other apostles—only James, the Lord’s brother. 20 I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie. 21 Then I went to Syria and Cilicia. 22 I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ. 23 They only heard the report: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”24 And they praised God because of me. Galatians 1:18-24.
The apostle Paul spent three years in the Arabian desert receiving direct revelation from the Holy Spirit about Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul was chosen before the foundations of the earth to take the gospel to the utter ends of the earth. During the early years of the apostle Paul’s life he had no idea because he believed he was created to destroy and end this movement called Christianity.
But because of God’s grace and mercy the apostle Paul was saved from his life of sin. When he encountered the Savior his life was changed for an eternity. After spending three years in the Arabian desert the apostle Paul makes his way to Jerusalem which at the present time was the center of Christianity because it was its birth place.
It was here that the apostle Paul met with both the apostle Peter and James the Lord Jesus brother. Some fail to realize that after Jesus was born to Mary that Mary had other children naturally with Jesus. Two of these children that were Jesus earthly brothers were James and Jude who both wrote a book of the New Testament.
But it was here that Paul was able to sit down with these men and discuss with them all that the Lord had shared with him. We must remember that before Paul shows up to talk with Peter and James that his reputation is one who is trying to destroy the truth and kill Christians.
Paul was a man who had an incredible testimony about the grace of God. God took a man who at one point was trying to destroy the church and through His grace and His power flips the tables on it and uses Paul to build the church and establish it upon the earth. The Lord will always use the things that Satan has meant for wickedness for the goodness of His people and the glory of His name.
Paul would be used to write a majority of the books found in the New Testament. Much of what Paul wrote were letters to churches responding to issues that they were facing. The mark of an apostle was that they walked with authority that was given by God alone. God is the only one who can give true authority. We have many in ministry today who claim to walk in authority but that authority has not been given by the Lord. The role of the apostles in the early church and the those called to be apostles today are to bring correction where needed and to strengthen and establish a firm foundation in the body of Christ.
One thing we can learn from examining the life of the apostle Paul is that no life is unreachable by the Lord. No past is too difficult that cannot be changed by the grace of God for the glory of His kingdom and His name. Let us see all things through the eyes of the Lord and ask Him to give us hearts to understand. We continue to move toward the return of the Lord and the hour grows very short. He desires to pour out and manifest His glory today upon the earth and He is simply seeking vessels who are willing and vessels who would simply say yes.
