Apart from Him we can do nothing

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.  John 15:5

In ourselves we are nothing.  In ourselves we are imperfect and we are without strength.  When we come to a point when we realize that we are nothing with out Jesus is when we are at the point when we can begin to be used.  Those who rely upon their own strength and their own wisdom will crumble when many challenges come.

But those who rely fully upon the Lord and simply put their whole trust in Him will never be ashamed.  When our hearts and minds are focused upon the Lord is when we will walk in true strength.  The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells within us, but the power of the Holy Spirit will not be poured out in our lives until we are willing to fully yield our hearts unto the  Lord.

When we do come to the point where we are willing to fully yield our hearts unto the Lord is when the fruit of the Holy Spirit will be produced in our lives.  The character of Christ is not produced in our lives as long as we are the ones who are in control and we are following our own will and desires.  We must be willing to lay every desire we have before the throne of God and simply make the prayer of our hearts “thy will be done”.  When His will becomes our hearts cry is when we will begin to live in the power and might of the Holy Spirit.
