Walk in Him

Therefore as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in [union with] Him [reflecting His character in the things you do and say—living lives that lead others away from sin], having been deeply rooted [in Him] and now being continually built up in Him and [becoming increasingly more] established in your faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing in it with gratitude.

Colossians 2:6-7 AMP

We are called to walk with the Lord.  We are called to develop deep intimacy with the Lord.  We are not called to be merely converts to Christianity, we are called to be disciples.  As we walk with Jesus each day there should be a transformation taking place in our lives.  Our lives should no longer reflect the values and expectations of the world, our lives should reflect the character of our Savior and our Lord.

We are called to be Christlike in all things and to have the mind of Christ.  We are called to set our hearts and minds upon things above.  Our lives are dictated by our minds.  Where we set our minds will dictate the way we live our lives.  What we believe and hold to be true will have authority over our lives.

In Romans it speaks of being transformed by the renewing of our minds.  Our minds are simply renewed as we spend time in God’s word each day.  We are not called to merely read God’s word, we are called to meditate upon it.  This is why the Lord told Joshua to not let the law depart from his lips.  He was to meditate upon God’s word day and night.

Those who live in darkness are simply blinded by the lies and deceptions of the enemy.  The decisions they make on a daily basis are simply based upon lies.  This is why we as believers in Jesus Christ should live lives that are contradictory to the world and its standards.  If we are truly to call ourselves followers of Jesus Christ then our lives should reflect the character and heart of our Lord and Savior.
