A living sacrifices

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

Romans 12:1 NKJV

We are called to be Living sacrifices set apart for the purposes of God’s kingdom and His glory.  We are called to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.  We are not called to pursue the desire and passions of the world, but we are called to walk in obedience to God’s word and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

It is not true Christianity to follow the desires of the world, but claim to follow Jesus Christ.  Anyone who would pursue the lust of the flesh but claim they are following Jesus Christ are simply are a deception and illusion.  The Lord made it very clear that to follow Him means to deny oneself and pick up ones cross.  We are called to daily crucify the lust of the flesh and embrace the leading of the Holy Spirit.

This is only accomplished as we spend time with the Lord each day in prayer and the study of His word.  As we get alone with the Lord in the place of intimacy and we grow in our relationship with Him, the desires of our hearts will naturally align with His.  Walking in obedience to the Holy Spirit is not something that is accomplished by our own strength and power.  Walking according to the Holy Spirit only comes as we become more sensitive to the Holy Spirit and die to the things of this world.

We are able to walk in continual fellowship with the Lord.  But it requires us to pursue Him with all our heart.  He must become our obsession and desire.  When the Lord becomes our obsession and desire we will begin to live the abundant life Jesus spoke of because abundant life is simply knowing the Lord intimately.
