All of you be like-minded

Finally, all of you be like-minded [united in spirit], sympathetic, brotherly, kindhearted [courteous and compassionate toward each other as members of one household], and humble in spirit; and never return evil for evil or insult for insult [avoid scolding, berating, and any kind of abuse], but on the contrary, give a blessing [pray for one another’s well-being, contentment, and protection]; for you have been called for this very purpose, that you might inherit a blessing [from God that brings well-being, happiness, and protection].  1 Peter 3:8-9 AMP

We are called to be like-minded in Christ and to walk in unity in all things.  One of the great schemes of the enemy is to try to bring division into the house of the Lord.  This was clearly demonstrated when the enemy brought division between the first two brothers and Cain ended up murdering his brother able.

The question in scripture is where do divisions and factions come from and it is simply a result of pride.  When people’s eyes are focused upon anything else beside Jesus Christ it gives the enemy room to operate.  When our eyes are focused upon the Lord and we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness we walk in sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit will give us wisdom for all things.

The driving force of our lives should simply be the love of Christ at work in our hearts.  When the love of Christ is the driving force in our lives we will guard our hearts from offense and we will lavish His love upon all that we come into contact with.  The love of Christ cannot be counterfeited because it comes solely from the heart of the Lord.

Today let us simply press into the Lord and grow in intimacy and fellowship with Him.  When we invest in spending time in His presence through prayer and the reading of His word we are transformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.  It is impossible to be transformed apart from prayer and the reading of God’s word.  It is the power of God’s word that changes our minds and in changing our minds the way we live our lives on a daily basis is changed.
